1) CCAHEC has moved the Refresher Course Final Exam online! During this time of uncertainty, you have the option to continue your studies and take the exam online, rather than taking a proctored, paper test. Contact Brittany for instructions regarding how to take the online exam at brittany@centralcoahec.org. The proctored, paper exam version will still be an option, once our office is open and the "stay at home" order is lifted. Contact Brittany or Kathleen at training@centralcoahec.org for more information and let us know what you prefer!

2) The Center for Nursing Excellence (CNE)/Simulation Collaborative updates: The CNE is awaiting word from the State Board of Nursing regarding the number of clinical hours students may complete through (virtual) simulation labs. Should the board temporarily expand the ability for students to complete clinicals via simulation, we will let you know. CCAHEC is currently exploring options for virtual simulation for our students. Stay tuned!

3) The State Board of Nursing has determined that nurses working under an emergency status license may NOT apply those hours towards their clinical requirements (Phase 2 of the Refresher course) for full re-licensure. Nurses enrolled in Refresher courses will still need to complete the clinical component of the course with a nurse preceptor and complete all requirements. To learn more about how to apply for an emergency status license, or for any other questions or concerns, contact us at training@centralcoahec.org.

Be well, Kathleen and Brittany (Professional Education Team)

The RN/LPN Refresher courses help a nurse, whose license has been inactive or expired for more than two years or who has not practiced nursing for a two-year period, get their license renewed as required by the Colorado State Board of Nursing.

The Central Colorado AHEC Refresher course is an online "anytime, anywhere" program where the student directs and controls their own learning environment.
